Barcelona defeats Atletico Madrid in a six-goal thriller

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid

Barcelona have moved into the top four for the first time since September, with Atletico Madrid now two points behind. The match ended with score 4-2 at Camp Nou.

Carrasco scored the first goal for Atletico Madrid, which was later equalised by jordi alba’s spectacular volley. Barcelona was more emphatic, scoring four goals in 40 minutes at Camp Nou.

Atletico took the lead after eight minutes, but Barcelona dominated the rest of the first half. Traore was at the centre of it all, taking over the game for a frantic half-hour. He assisted Gavi’s goal, which gave Barcelona the lead in the 21st minute. Barcelona were on top, and Traore was on fire.

Araujo scored just before halftime, and Alves added a fourth four minutes later, converting Gavi’s cut-back. When Suarez scored from close range against his former club, the party atmosphere was slightly blunted.

Atletico had 20 minutes of normal time to turn things around after Daniel Alves was sent off in the 69th minute. However, Barcelona’s 10 men held off Simeone’s side and won the game 4-2.

“Main goal of this season is to be in fourth position” Xavi said in post match interview.
