Chelsea advanced to the final after defeating Al-Hilal

Chelsea vs Al-Hilal

Holders of the Champions League Chelsea defeated Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal 1-0 at Abu Dhabi’s Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium on Wednesday to advance to the Club World Cup final.

Thomas Tuchel’s side opened the scoring on 31 minutes when striker Romelu Lukaku powered home from six yards out. However, despite a dominant performance against the Saudis, they failed to convert any of their other chances.

The Premier League side continued to pile pressure on Al Hilal but looked clumsy in front of goal. With 30 minutes remaining, Al Hilal came close to equalising, but Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was on top of them.

Chelsea will face Brazilian side Palmeiras in the final after a narrow victory over Al-Hilal. The Club World Cup is the only trophy Chelsea have not won since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003. They came close in 2012, but failed as they lost 1-0 in the final to Brazilian club Corinthians in Japan.
