Chelsea defeated Lille in the round of 16

Chelsea defeated Lille 1-2 away from home to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea won both legs against Lille in the Champions League round of 16. Chelsea conceded a goal in the 38th after giving away a penalty and Burak Yilmaz converted it. The Blues were not in complete control of the game in the first half. However, Christian Pulisic scored the equaliser for the visitors in the first half-stoppage time. 

The hosts had chances, with Yilmaz sending a header narrowly wide and Xeka seeing a header rebound off the post.

Lille were hoping to comeback in the second half, but they were not able to create any impactful chances. However, in the second period, in the 71st minute, Chelsea found the important second goal. The goal came from Cesar Azpilicueta after Mason Mount’s cross met him at the far post. 

Chelsea booked their place in the quarter-finals after beating Lille 1-4 on aggregate.
