Brentford have confirmed the signing of Christian Eriksen, a former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, on a season-long deal until the end of the season. Christian Eriksen returns to the Premier League only seven months after suffering a cardiac arrest while representing Denmark at Euro 2020.

Eriksen will reunite with Brentford manager Thomas Frank. With whom he previously worked for Denmark’s Under-17 team. The 29-year-old joins the Bees after passing a medical examination following a heart condition that caused him to collapse during a Euro 2020 match for Denmark last summer.

“We have taken an unbelievable opportunity to bring a world-class player to Brentford. He hasn’t trained with a team for seven months but has done a lot of work on his own. He is fit but we will need to get him match fit and I am looking forward to seeing him work with the players and staff to get back towards his highest level,” Thomas Frank said to the club’s official website

Eriksen will not train with Brentford this week because he only recently received his COVID-19 vaccination, and he is unlikely to make his debut for the Bees in Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Everton. It would be compelling to see Christian Eriksen and Ivan Toney link up.
