Everton have confirmed the transfer of Donny Van de Beek on a season-long loan from Manchester United. After battling for playing time, interim manager Ralf Rangnick allowed Van de Beek to leave Old Trafford.
Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard’s first signing for Everton is Donny Van de Beek. Crystal Palace and Valencia were also interested in signing Van de Beek, but he chose to join Everton.
Since joining Manchester United for about £40 million in August 2020, the Dutch international has played 582 minutes of Premier League football. He might make his Everton debut against Newcastle despite not starting a game for Manchester United this season.
The Merseyside club will pay the entirety of the Dutchman’s salary until the end of the season. If he wants to play for the Netherlands in the World Cup, manager Louis van Gaal has told him that he needs consistent game time. The World Cup starts off in November.
Everton’s midfield is in desperate need of reinforcements, with Tom Davies, Abdoulaye Doucoure, and Fabian Delph all out until March. Van de Beek can help the toffees achieve their goal.
