Frank Lampard praises ‘really intelligent’ Donny van de Beek for making an immediate impact on his first Everton start.
Lampard believes Donny’s versatility will be a big asset for the Toffees to compete in the League. When asked if he expected Donny van de Beek to make such an instant impact for Everton, Frank Lampard replied, “I expected that.”
“I knew Donny as a player from the outside and I brought him here because of his talent in terms of his play, his intelligence and his work ethic.” “He’s a technical player but he matched the other players for work ethic. He gave us a sense of calm and he linked the play.”
Lampard also said: “I think he can do different roles and that’s the beauty [of him] and why I moved so quickly to try and get him when I came in.
Donny played in midfield along with Allan in a 4-4-2 formation and appeared to provide exactly what Manchester United lacked in the middle. Everton defeated Leeds 3-0 at Goodison Park, and Van de Beek won over the home crowd.
