Borussia Dortmund announced that they have signed German central defender Niklas Sule from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, According to FR.
After his contract at Bayern Munich expires in the summer, the 26-year-old will join Dortmund on a free transfer. Sule, who has 37 German national team caps, has made 159 appearances for Bayern since joining from Hoffenheim in 2017.
Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Barcelona were among the clubs trying to sign Sule. However, Dortmund were able to outbid the other interested parties to secure Sule’s services ahead of the 2022-2023 season. The Bundesliga giants retained him for 4 years.
The club’s sporting director Michael Zorc confirmed the news by saying: ‘We are pleased that we were able to sign a German national player Niklas Sule. Bayern fans will be disappointed by the news, given that the defender is joining their title rivals.
BVB manager Rose will be hoping that Sule’s arrival will help Dortmund overtake Bayern in the coming years.
