Gerrard Pique missed Barcelona training on Wednesday and he is in doubt to be featured in Sunday’s game against Real Betis.
The 34-year-old centre-back was substituted in the 2-1 win against Mallorca because he was suffering discomfort in his left thigh.
Moreover, this discomfort has been bothering him for weeks, and he has been playing through the pain. The injury was first noticed in the Europa League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Since then, Gerrad Pique has been struggling, and now he could miss the rest of the season.
FC Barcelona released a statement on their official website saying “Gerrard Pique has suffered a flare-up of the tedinopathy that was already affecting the adductor longus muscle in his left thigh. It means he is unavailable for selection until the injury has healed.”
Barcelona play Real Betis on 8th May and without Pique most likely centre-back pairing will be Araujo and Eric Garcia.
