Chelsea returned to Champions League action when French champions Lille visited Stamford Bridge for the first leg. Chelsea’s Kai Havertz scored the game’s first goal.

Chelsea won the first leg of the Champions League last 16 by a score of 2-0. The London club will travel to France for the second leg with an aggregate of 0-2. Chelsea are clearly the favourites in this fixture to win.

Chelsea’s Kai Havertz scored in the 8th minute to give the hosts the lead at Stamford Bridge. Later, Christian Pulisic scored the second goal to seal their victory in the 63rd minute. Chelsea are the current Champions League holders. They beat Real Madrid in the semi-finals and Manchester City in the final. Kai Havertz was the difference maker in last year’s final.

Chelsea are currently in third place in the Premier League, behind Manchester City and Liverpool. And Lillie won Ligue 1 last season but is out of form this year.

Chelsea will play Lillie away from home in France on March 17th for the second leg of this fixture.
