Leeds United sacked Marcelo Biesla after a poor performance in the Premier League that left the club just two points above the relegation zone.
Marcelo Biesla was sacked after the 4-0 defeat against Tottenham at Elland Road. It was their 4th straight defeat. Leeds are currently in 16th position and in danger of dropping into the championship.
Biesla joined Leeds United in 2018 and turned things around for them. Marcelo Biesla led Leeds United back to the Premier League after 16 years. Leeds finished ninth in the Premier League last season, playing quality football.
However, injuries to key players such as forward Patrick Bamford, midfielder Kalvin Phillips, and captain Liam Cooper have negatively impacted their second season in the Premier League. Biesla leaves the club in 16th position with just two points above the relegation zone.
“This has been the most difficult decision I have had to make,” says Chairman Andrea Radrizzani; Jesse Marsch is in line to replace Bielsa, with the club hoping to make a new appointment on Monday.
