Liverpool forward Diogo Jota suffered an ankle ligament injury against Inter in the Champions League match, according to manager Jurgen Klopp.

At halftime against Inter on Wednesday, Roberto Firmino came on for Jota. Liverpool recently had their key players return from injury before Jota’s set back.

“I am happy with everything apart from Diogo  going off because of something around the ankle ligament,” Klopp said to BT Sports. “He could play on so maybe that is a good sign. The ankle was swollen at the break so we had to change.”

“It was perfect how the boys reacted,” Klopp said. “All of them want to start. All my respect for Jordan Henderson’s performance today and Naby, who came on. Luis is so natural when he comes on so that is all very helpful.

Liverpool will be hoping Jota will be fully fit to play against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on February 27th.
