Liverpool in the driving seat of this draw after beating Benfica

Goals from Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate were enough for Liverpool to beat Benfica in Lisbon.

Liverpool played their first leg of the quarter-final against Benfica in Lisbon and beat them 3-1. Liverpool are in a commanding position to advance into the next round of the Champions League. 

It was an interesting game as both teams had chances to score goals. However, it was Liverpool who scored the first goal when Andrew Robertson’s corner found Konate and he headed the ball to give the visitors the lead. 

After the half-hour mark, Liverpool doubled their lead when Trent’s long ball found Luis Diaz and for him to head and pass Sadio Mane for him to finish. 

Liverpool had a two-goal lead going into the first half. However, after the start of the second half, in the 47th minute, Benfica scored a goal. The visitors created chances, and the hosts also had chances on the break. 

Liverpool again scored a goal to double their lead through Luis Diaz. The score was 1-3 with Liverpool leading with two goals.

The second leg of this fixture will be at Anfield on the 14th of April.
