Lyon beat Porto 1-0 in the first leg of the Europa League.
A goal from Lucas Paqueta for Lyon was enough to beat Porto away from home. Both teams had chances in the first half but were not able to find the net. because the goalkeepers were in good shape at both ends.
It took an hour for the breakthrough to arrive, and it came through Brazilian international Lucas Paqueta. He scored a goal from close range after being teed up by Moussa Dembele.
Later in the second half, Lucas Paqueta gave away a penalty to Porto, but VAR overturned the penalty decision. Late in the injury time, Porto scored the important equaliser, but again the VAR disallowed the goal because of offside.
This is a narrow victory for Lyon. They need to keep the intensity high to stop Porto from scoring. The second leg of this fixture will be played on March 18th.
