Manchester City advance to quarter-finals of the Champions League

Manchester City advanced to the quarter-finals in the Champions League after defeating Sporting Lisbon 5-0 on aggregate.

In the first leg, Manchester City scored five goals past Sporting Lisbon. However, in the second leg of this fixture, Manchester City were not able to score against Sporting Lisbon at the Etihad stadium. Raheem Sterling came close to scoring twice, and Phil Foden forced Sporting Lisbon’s keeper to make a save.

Moreover, after half time, Manchester City thought they had scored a goal, but the goal was disallowed by the VAR.

The home team was in complete control of the game, dominating the ball and attacking, while the visitors were defending. Later, towards the end, Sporting suddenly were attacking, but the substitute goal keeper for City, Scott Carson, did well to make a save.

Manchester City are into the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating Sporting Lisbon 5-0. Man City are favourites to win the champions league this season among other teams.
