Manchester United were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid on a 2-1 aggregate.

Atletico Madrid advanced to the next round of the Champions League after defeating Manchester United. The first leg of this fixture ended in a draw at the Wanda Metropolitano. However, Atletico Madrid secured a narrow victory, 1-0, at Old Trafford.

Renan Lodi scored the header from Greizmann’s cross in the first half. Manchester United had 60% of the ball and 11 shots, 5 of which were on target. Meanwhile, Atletico had 8 shots, with 3 of them on target.

Manchester United tried to pile on the pressure, but they were unable to find a way through. However, United came close to scoring the goal, but Elanga’s effort hit Jan Oblak’s head and deflected.

United’s only hope for silverware was the Champions League, but Manchester United’s trophy drought continues.

Their chances of playing in the Champions League next season are also less as they are 5th on the Premier League table.
