Bad news kept coming Diego Simeon’s and Atletico Madrid’s way on Wednesday, as Matheus Cunha was forced to leave the team’s 1-0 loss to Levante.

Cunha was injured during the attack and was taken off quickly, indicating that he will most likely miss the Champions League match against Manchester United. Matheus Cunha started the game along with Correa against Levante. Cunha was having his best season at Atletico, but now he will be sidelined due to his injury.

Before they know how long they’ll be without the player, Atleti will wait for the results of the tests he’ll be subjected to. Early indications indicate that he will be out for a few weeks. Atletico are struggling this season. They are currently 5th on the points table with 39 points in 24 matches.

Atletico will find it hard to qualify for the Champions League next season because their competition is Barcelona and Real Sociedad, who have a game in hand.
