Talks were held between Matthijs de Ligt and Juventus on Monday afternoon, and according to reports, his contract will be extended until 2026.
De Ligt has a release clause of around €150 million. However, it will be valid from only July 2022.
The current deal with de Ligt lasts till 2024 with Juventus. However, currently in his third season in Turin, the Dutchman is a key component of the club’s rebuild.
Moreover, Giorgio Chiellini will not play for Juventus starting next season after saying goodbye on Monday night.
De Ligt has made 30 appearances for Juventus in Serie A. The reports claim that negotiations are going well and are progressing.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Matthijs de Ligt is close to signing a new contract with Juventus. Advanced talks for a deal extension until June 2026, with negotiations now underway.
However, it would require some time for both parties to reach an agreement.
