It was a blow to Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli as Fiorentina shocked Napoli 3-2 on Sunday.
Napoli missed out on going on top of the table, and they suffered a major setback in their search for their first league title since 1990.
It was the visitors who scored the first goal. In the 29th minute, through Nicolas Gonzalez. Fiorentina went into half time with a one-goal lead. However, Dries Mertens found the equaliser just before the hour mark.
After the equaliser, Fiorentina scored another goal after eight minutes through substitute Jonathan Ikone. Moreover, Fiorentina doubled their lead when Arthur Cabral scored with his right foot.
Napoli came back into the game when Victor Osimhen scored the goal for Napoli to make the score 2-3. Fiorentina held on to their lead and managed to take all three points against Napoli.
Napoli are now third in the table with 66 points in 32 matches. Meanwhile, after this win, Fiorentina moved up to 7th place in the league table.
