RB Leipzig won 1-0 over Rangers in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final at the Red Bull Arena.

A brilliant volley from Angelino five minutes before the normal time was enough to beat Rangers in the first leg. Throughout the game, the Rangers’ defence was superb, and they appeared to have held off everything Leipzig could throw at them.

Christoph Nkunku had an opportunity on 17 minutes when he was fed into the box by Benjamin Henrichs, but Calvin Bassey played a crucial role in preventing his shot. In the opening 45 minutes, neither goalkeeper was tested, as Rangers relied on their back five, including midfielder John Lundstram, to keep Leipzig at a distance.

It was RB Leipzig who dominated the game but they still didn’t manage to score more than one goal against well organised Rangers defense.

Leipzig have a 1-0 lead to take back to Ibrox for the second leg-but the Scottish champions will know they have everything to play for next week.
