Real Madrid made extra time comeback against Chelsea in the quarter-final

Real Madrid advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League after a thrilling second leg victory on aggregate of 5-4 against Chelsea at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Chelsea came into this game after losing 1-3 to Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge. The first half goal from Mason Mount was a confidence booster for the Blues. They had a 1-0 lead and a 3-2 aggregate going into the break.

In the second half, Chelsea found their second goal when Mason Mount’s corner found Antonio Rudiger in the box for him to head in.

Soon after 10 minutes, Chelsea scored another through Alonso, but a VAR check disallowed the goal for a handball. 

However, Timo Werner scored the third goal for the visitors, as that goal gave them the lead. Later, a beautiful pass from Modric to Rodrygo in the box for him to volley it and level the score. 

The 90 minutes ended and both teams were on level terms on aggregate. However, Benzema’s 96th minute header ended Chelsea’s semi-final dreams. Real Madrid will either face Manchester City or Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
