Ricketts made the shortlist of bidders for the sale of Chelsea Football Club but has decided not to go ahead with a bid.
The consortium said it had “decided, after careful consideration, not to submit a final bid for Chelsea… given the unusual dynamics around the sales process”
Therefore, now there are only three groups left in chase to buy team from sanctioned Roman Abramovich. Todd Boehly, Sir Martin Broughton and Steve Pagliuca are in the race to buy the Blues.
However, on Friday the statement was released, the Ricketts consortium said: “The Ricketts-Griffin-Gilbert Group has decided, after careful consideration, not to submit a final bid for Chelsea FC.
“In the process of finalising their proposal, it became increasingly clear that certain issues could not be addressed given the unusual dynamics around the sales process.”
“We have great admiration for Chelsea and its fans, and we wish the new owners well.”
These days are tough for Chelsea fans as they recently lost 5-4 on aggregate in Champions League to Real Madrid.
