Tottenham Hotspur have signed Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur during the winter transfer window from Juventus, despite Antonio Conte’s repeated requests for stronger options in recent weeks.
Kulusevski arrived in Turin for 35 million euros from Parma via Atalanta, but he has struggled to establish himself as a starter, while Bentancur has become less of a significant player than he was during Massimiliano Allegri’s first term in charge.
Kulusevski has joined Spurs on an 18-month loan deal with a buy option worth around 40 million euros. The Uruguayan midfielder signed for a fee of 20 million euros.
In 27 appearances for the Old Lady during the 2021-22 season, the 21-year-old has two goals and three assists. Bentancur joined Juventus from Boca Juniors in the summer of 2017, scoring three goals and providing 18 assists in 181 appearances for the Bianconeri across all competitions.
Tottenham stepped up their pursuit of Kulusevski after losing out on Luis Diaz to Liverpool, and the Premier League club has now secured his services on an initial loan deal. In terms of departures, Dele Alli is reportedly on the verge of a permanent move to Everton, while Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso could also leave before window closes. It will be exciting to see these new signings play under Antonio Conte.
