Tottenham Hotspur’s club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele has returned to Lyon on loan until the end of the season. Under Antonio Conte, the 25-year-old has struggled to make consistent starts for Tottenham Hotspur
Paris Saint-Germain were thought to be the frontrunner in the race to sign Ndombele. However, the deal reportedly fell through due to Les Parisiens’ failure to offload one of their current midfielders.
As a result, Lyon have taken advantage of the situation by re-signing the midfielder on a loan basis. The Ligue 1 club have paid a loan fee of £1.2 million to Tottenham Hotspur and has the option to make the deal permanent in the summer for a reported £54 million. However, Ndombele has 7 international caps for France. He has largely failed to live up to his £54 million transfer fee at Tottenham Hotspur.
Ndombele will fill in for Bruno Guimaraes. Ndombele played 96 games for Lyon from 2017 to 2019 and was named to the French league team of the year.
