UEFA and FIFA ban Russian teams from all competitions


UEFA and FIFA ban Russian teams from playing in all international competition until further notice. They suspended Russian teams from international football competitions, due to the invasion of Russia on Ukraine.

Russia was going to host Poland in a World Cup qualifier, but they will not play any games due to their suspension. Russia was also going to play Albania, Iceland, and Israel in the Nations League. And Spartak Moscow will not play their Europa League match against RB Leipzig, with the club advancing to the quarter-finals.

The decision on the Women’s Euros 2022, in which is Russia is playing, will be made later, according to UEFA. “All Russian clubs and national teams are suspended from participation in both FIFA and UEFA competitions until further notice,” UEFA and FIFA said in a joint statement. They also said, “Football is fully united here and in full solidarity with all the people affected in Ukraine.”
