Villarreal stun Bayern Munich and knock them out of UCL

Unai Emery Villarreal

Villarreal beat Bayern Munich on aggregate 1-2 and knocked them out of the Champions League.

The Yellow Submarine are now in the semi-finals of the Champions League. They are going to play in a Champions League semi-final for the first time since season 2005/06.

Villarreal went into this game with a one-goal lead on aggregate against Bayern Munich when Danjuma scored at the Estadio de la Ceramica. For the first time, Unai Emery’s team is in the semi-finals.

Bayern Munich were clearly the favourites going into this tie. However, they were stunned by Villarreal. In the second leg of this tie, Bayern had more ball possession, but they did not have many chances.

Despite having less ball in possession, Villarreal had better chances. Both teams went into the halftime break without scoring, but Villarreal was content to keep Bayer quiet.

However, after the restart, Lewandowski scored an important goal to equalise the aggregate. However, towards the end, Chukweze scored the winning goal to advance to the semi-final.
