Yerry Mina, an Everton defender, has been ruled out for more than two months after suffering a quad injury against Newcastle United.

Mina, who was replaced by Jarrad Branthwaite in the 35th minute of Saturday’s 3-1 loss, joins fellow centre back Ben Godfrey on the bench. Yerry Mina will consult with a specialist to determine whether surgery is required to treat the injury that has caused Lampard such a headache.

And Lampard admitted to being concerned about the Colombia international’s situation at first.

Mina, who missed over a month of action in October due to a thigh injury, has played in just 10 league games this season. Winger Demarai Gray will also miss out due to a hip injury.

Everton, which is 16th in the table and two points above the relegation zone, trails 15th-placed Leeds by four points but has a game in hand. And, with Everton’s next match against Leeds United, it will be interesting to see how Lampard lines up his team.
